You can’t fail to miss all the talk about Theresa May’s plan to bring back grammar schools in the UK. Fail being the operative word for many young children who may not be fully developed and ready to pass the potential 11+ entry tests. Failure could be the resonating feeling left with the child.
I am personally against the plan to bring back grammar schools, as my quick visual above shows, I feel children are already too pressurised at a young age and grammar schools will just add to this test, mark, test, mark style of education.
Let’s take a note from countries like Finland who are said to have some of the happiest children and successful schools. Could the fact schools in Finland have no mandated standardised tests at a young age contribute to this?
